Akastor sells Skandi Peregrino for $21.6m, leaving DDW Offshore without ships

The 2010-built anchor handler goes to Anchor Australia, part of the AHTS platform backed by 2020 Bulkers

An anchor handling tug supply vessel towing at sea

Akastor has completed the sale of the anchor handling tug supply vessel Skandi Peregrino for $21.6m. The Oslo-listed oil services investment company said its subsidiary DDW Offshore has received the proceeds and now owns no ships, and described the sale as a further step in its strategy of realising value from its holdings.

The Norwegian-flagged vessel, built in 2010, was delivered on 2 October to Anchor Australia of Norway. That company is being folded into the anchor handler platform backed by 2020 Bulkers. AHTS AS is to take over Anchor Australia, with completion expected on 5 October against roughly 55.7 million consideration shares to its sellers, subject to closing adjustments. If the remaining acquisitions close, 2020 Bulkers said the platform will control 15 vessels.

Why did the first sale of Skandi Peregrino fail?

It is Akastor's second attempt to sell the ship. In March 2025 DDW agreed to sell Skandi Peregrino for $25m, of which about $10m was to repay a proportional share of DDW's debt. That deal was cancelled after the charterer declined to approve novation of the contract, and the ship stayed with DDW until this month. In October 2024 the ship and her sister Skandi Atlantic had won a one-year firm charter for an international oil company in Australian waters, starting in January 2025.

DDW has wound down its fleet since. Skandi Atlantic was sold for $22.75m in January, with $8m of the proceeds used to cut debt, and Skandi Emerald followed for $23m in June. Skandi Peregrino was the last of the three, and the $21.6m she fetched is $3.4m below the price agreed in the cancelled deal.
