TotalEnergies hands Halliburton integrated drilling scope in Suriname
The scope covers drilling and completion for the country's first large deepwater project

Halliburton has won integrated well construction contracts from TotalEnergies for the GranMorgu deepwater development offshore Suriname, covering drilling and completion services for a long-term programme. The company said it would deploy a fully integrated, digital and automated execution model uniting planning, engineering and operations to improve performance, accelerate learning and reduce the total cost of well construction.
The project is being used to build local capability through infrastructure investment and collaboration with local suppliers. As part of the scope, the company worked with local firms to upgrade a liquid mud and cement plant and supported the construction of the country's first completions and drilling workshop, and it says it will prioritise local talent and suppliers. An executive said the company would apply integrated digital workflows, real-time data and remote operations control to improve well placement accuracy and delivery assurance.
GranMorgu is the first development within its block, around 150km offshore Suriname, and will be the country's first large deepwater project. It will be developed using a floating production vessel with an expected capacity of up to 220,000 barrels of oil a day and associated gas treatment of up to 500m cubic feet a day, with first oil expected in 2028.
