Eni extends Ventura Offshore semisub off Indonesia
Fresh wells for the SSV Catarina add about $25m to the driller's backlog

Ventura Offshore has picked up an extension for one of its semisubmersible rigs after Italian energy group Eni called additional work off Indonesia.
The driller said Eni had taken up an option covering a fourth well plus a tophole for the semisub SSV Catarina. The option was exercised through Eni Muara Bakau, a unit of Searah, the joint venture that Eni runs with Petronas.
The extra wells are expected to keep the rig busy into the final quarter of 2026 and to add around $25.1m to Ventura's firm backlog. The Catarina has been working for Eni since August 2024, and beyond the Indonesian options the operator also holds a fixed-price option for a single well in Vietnam.
The SSV Catarina joined the Ventura fleet in June 2024, acquired from Umas 1 for $105m. The company owns and runs the drillship DS Carolina alongside two semisubs, the SSV Victoria and the SSV Catarina, and manages a further drillship, the Atlantic Zonda. Its rigs are currently operating off Brazil and Indonesia.
