CB&I Lands Three-Year Ivory Coast FPSO Services Contract

Deal falls in the $50m to $100m band and follows a transition from the incumbent

CB&I's Asset Solutions business has been awarded a three-year contract in Ivory Coast covering the provision of operations and maintenance services on a floating production, storage and offloading unit.

The client has not been named. Under the contract, CB&I takes responsibility for the safe operation, maintenance, integrity management and regulatory compliance of the offshore unit.

The award is described as large, placing it in the $50m to $100m range. Contracts of that size in the operations and maintenance segment typically carry the full onboard crewing and technical management scope rather than a discrete work package.

The scope begins with a structured transition from the incumbent service provider. From there, the company will handle the safe restart and stabilisation of operations, life-of-field asset integrity and reliability, and class certification.

A restart clause is significant: it indicates the unit has been off production, and that the contractor's first task is to bring the asset back into a compliant, certified operating state rather than simply maintaining a running facility.

"Over the last few years we have been accelerating our presence across Africa, building on a 20-year presence in the region and our commitment to bolster the local supply chain and build local workforces," said Sandy Merson, senior vice president of asset operations for CB&I Asset Solutions.

Ivory Coast has become one of the more active deepwater provinces on the West African seaboard, drawing engineering and vessel work from across the contracting sector. Recent awards in the country have covered floating production hardware as well as subsea and installation scopes, and the operations and maintenance layer now follows the construction phase.

No start date for the transition has been disclosed.
