Oslo-listed seismic specialist TGS has won a new ocean bottom node contract from an undisclosed client covering the Africa, Mediterranean and Middle East region. The award adds to the company's pipeline of deep-water survey work as demand for high-resolution seabed data continues across the offshore exploration and production sector.
A deep-water crew is scheduled to mobilise for the project in the fourth quarter, with the survey expected to run for approximately one hundred days once operations begin. Ocean bottom node surveys involve placing sensor units directly on the seafloor to record seismic data with greater clarity than towed streamer methods, particularly in complex geological settings.
TGS did not name the client behind the contract, a common practice in the seismic services sector where survey work is frequently commissioned on a confidential or multi-client basis. The Africa, Mediterranean and Middle East region has seen sustained exploration interest in recent years, supporting demand for advanced seismic imaging services across both established and frontier basins.
