Technip Energies Lands Detailed Engineering Role on ADNOC Offshore Job

French-headquartered engineering and technology company Technip Energies has been awarded a contract by Larsen & Toubro Energy Hydrocarbon to provide detailed engineering services for a major ADNOC Offshore project in the United Arab Emirates.

The project was recently awarded by ADNOC Offshore to a consortium led by LTEH, the hydrocarbon business of the Indian engineering conglomerate. It covers the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of new offshore facilities, together with modifications and upgrades to existing infrastructure.

The award falls within Technip Energies' definition of a significant contract, which represents revenue of between €50m and €250m. The company will draw on its local engineering capability and its record on complex, large-scale offshore projects in the Middle East.

Detailed engineering is the phase where an offshore development's cost and schedule are effectively fixed. It converts the concept and FEED work into the drawings, specifications and procurement packages that fabrication yards build from, and errors carried through it surface as brownfield rework rather than design revisions. On a scope that combines new-build facilities with modifications to producing infrastructure, that sequencing constraint is tighter still, because the tie-in work has to be planned around field shutdown windows that are set years in advance.

The award builds on a long-standing collaboration between Technip Energies and Larsen & Toubro across upstream, downstream and energy infrastructure projects worldwide.

It also adds to a period of heavy offshore contracting activity for ADNOC Offshore, which has awarded a series of large engineering, procurement, construction and installation packages across its producing fields, drawing in fabrication capacity across the UAE, India and China and generating sustained demand for heavy-lift and offshore vessel support in the southern Gulf.
