Shanghai Minsheng adds second feeder pair at New Dayang
Options declared for two more 1,100 teu boxships, building a four-ship series

Chinese owner Shanghai Minsheng Shipping has added two more 1,100 teu feeder containerships at New Dayang Shipbuilding, declaring options for a pair of gearless newbuildings due for delivery in 2028 and 2029. The order gives the company a four-ship series at the Sumec Marine-controlled yard.
It follows Minsheng's first pair of 1,100 teu feeders at New Dayang, booked for delivery in September and December 2027. No price was disclosed for the latest ships, though brokers put the earlier pair at around $22.5m to $24m each. The deal is backed by BOC Financial Leasing.
Founded in 1985 as the Shanghai branch of Minsheng Shipping, the owner focuses on domestic and near-sea liner services, including container shipping in the Yangtze River basin. The feeders fit that regional trade profile.
New Dayang is best known for its Crown 63 ultramax bulkers but has been building a small and mid-sized containership book, including work for X-Press Feeders, while also moving into product tankers and multipurpose tonnage.
