Hapag-Lloyd to roll out Inmarsat NexusWave across its fleet
Container line adopts bonded connectivity after onboard trials

Container line Hapag-Lloyd has agreed to install Inmarsat Maritime's NexusWave connectivity service across its global fleet, following a period of trials on board.
The German carrier has been an Inmarsat customer for close to 25 years and began evaluating NexusWave in 2024 as part of the digitalisation strand of its Strategy 2030 plan. The service bonds several networks together, combining Ka-band satellite, low-earth-orbit satellite, LTE and L-band into a single connection with unlimited data, and comes with a support programme offering round-the-clock assistance and maintenance across more than 80 ports.
Hapag-Lloyd's chief information and human resources officer, Donya Amer, described the technology as a secure, resilient and scalable platform, while Inmarsat Maritime, part of Viasat, framed the deal as helping the line sustain its position among the world's largest container carriers.
